Astronomical Instruments

The Rampur Raza Library has also tha antique art objects and rare astronomical instruments. The oldest instrument of the collection is an Astrolab made by asSiraj Damashqi in AH.615 (1218 A.D).

Chronologically the next instrument is a Celestial Globe crafted by Muhammad Ibn Jaffar in AH 834 (1430-31 AD) at Kirman equally important is amariner astrolab in this collection it is undated another one astrolab designed byZiauddin Muhammad of Lahore dated 1074 AH (1663-64 AD).

The interesting feature of the library collection is that it includes manuscripts belonging to the libraries of Halab, Macca, Medina, Eygpt, Iran, Afghanistan and royal libraries of emperors, kings and noblemen of the Mughal dynasty.
