Formation of Rampur Raza Library Board

After the notification of Rampur Raza Library Act in 1975 by the Parliament  of India, the Library was given the status of a Central Institution of national importance with a provision of the Rampur Raza Library Board as its managing body under section 4(2) of the aforesaid Act. It occupies the position of a Governing body with His Excellency, Governor of Uttar Pradesh as the Chairman. Nawab Syed Murtaza Ali Khan was nominated as the Vice Chairman of the Board for life.   He continued as the Vice Chairman of the Board till his death in 1982, after that it automatically lapsed. Now besides, the chairman of the board, there is a provision for twelve other members including one descendant of the erstwhile ruling Nawab family of Rampur, distinquished historians, scholars of Arabic, Persian and Urdu languages besides officials of the Central and State Government related with the affairs of the Library.
